Fighting for Her Life, One Step at a Time

Nina's Race Against Cancer:
A Triathlete's Toughest Challenge
I'm Nina—a passionate runner, dedicated triathlete, loving wife and mother who's now facing the most challenging course of my life.
Recently, I received difficult news: my esophageal cancer has advanced to Stage 4. New scans reveal growths that have made surgery no longer an option. But as anyone who's seen me push through the final miles of a race knows—I don't give up when the path gets steep.
My incredible medical team at MD Anderson has outlined a treatment plan centered on aggressive chemotherapy. I'm also pursuing complementary therapies that will help strengthen my body during treatment and maintain my quality of life. Each day with my family is precious, and these treatments offer hope for more meaningful, active days ahead.
The financial reality of this journey is daunting. Between specialized treatments, travel to medical facilities, accommodations during treatment cycles, and therapies not covered by insurance, the costs are mounting quickly for our family.
Your support will directly help with:
-
Ongoing chemotherapy and medical treatments
-
Travel expenses to specialized care facilities
-
Complementary therapies to maintain strength
-
Support for our family while I focus on healing
Throughout my years as an athlete, I've learned that even the toughest endurance events are easier with a supportive community. Your contribution—whether financial support, sharing this campaign, or sending prayers and positive thoughts—gives me strength for the road ahead.
For those who've cheered me on at finish lines before, thank you for standing with me at this starting line now. With your help, I'm determined to make this my most important race yet.
With profound gratitude, Nina
